My name is Monica Burke and I am the principal at St. John Paul II Classical Catholic School. I was born and raised in Detroit. I have been married to my husband, Leo Burke, for 34 years. I haven’t always been Catholic; I chose to become Catholic at the age of 24. I am grateful to have found this meaning in my life.

We have one beautiful daughter, Chelsea, who have given us two wonderful grandsons, Jackson and Noah. My husband and I currently live in Berkley.

I graduated in 2005 from Oakland University with my Bachelor Degree in elementary education. I taught middle school for 15 years and I have truly enjoyed being a teacher. I graduated from Madonna University in 2011 with my Masters in Catholic School Educational Leadership and I have had the privilege to be an assistant principal and interim principal over the past five years.

For enjoyment, I am a member and a Lieutenant Colonel in Civil Air Patrol (CAP), the Auxiliary of the US Air Force. I conduct leadership schools for young adults to prepare them to be of service to their community, state, and nation. CAP has taught me how to be a servant leader, and I enjoy serving the community of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish and SJPIICCS.
